Welcome to The Villages Motor Racing Fan Club website!
SHARING INTERESTS IN ALL FORMS OF MOTOR RACING
You are cordially invited to view the pages in our site, all of which have been designed to keep our members and interested parties up-to-speed (pun intended!) on who we are and what we do.
Our club is open to all Villages residents. Collectively, we are dedicated to providing a forum to share common interests in ALL forms of motor racing.
Besides many of us being NASCAR fans, we are equally interested in the local racing venues so prevalent here in Florida. The classes we watch range from Super Late Models to Go-Karts, NHRA dragsters, and motorcycles. The tracks we have been known to visit range from the 2.5-mile, high-banked asphalt Daytona International Speedway to the 1/4-mile, flat dirt Marion County Speedway.
Next Meeting - May 1
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, May 1 at Colony Cottage Recreation Center, going green at 7 p.m.
Our guest speakers will be club members Linda and Bill Samuels. We met Bill a year ago when he told us about his experiences on the crew of a Supermodified team in the Northeast, which eventually led to Bill and Linda teaming up to form their own Supermodified team.
We will first hear from Linda as she explains what she did to help start and support the team during its 10-year history.
Bill will introduce us to the Supermodifieds and their radical, off-set, hand-built design. The simple description is that Supermodifieds are lightweight racing machines with big, powerful engines.
We will watch a DVD of the Supermodifeds race at Oswego (NY) Speedway in August 2009. This $10,000-to-win race will be exciting to watch and their car … wait, we don't want to give away the finish.
Meetings are open only to club members, but Villages residents can join at the door. If you are interested, Click Here for more information.
Prediction Row 2024
TALLADEGA -- No winner pickers this week. Actually, our predictors did not do well at all this week, with the best finish of dismal 13th place with Shel Larsen's pick of Ross Chastain.
There are still three races to go in the 2024 Spring Segment with lot of opportunities remaining for changes in the standings. Let's see what happens next week in Dover.
The top 3 predictors will advance to our Playoff Segment.

Ron Hedger - Villager Backstory
Hall of Fame member Ron Hedger was our guest speaker at a club meeting in 2023.
When Ron sent a column to National Speed Sport News, its publication launched a career spanning over 45 years. Along with Speed Sport, he was a contributing editor for Stock Car Racing and Open Wheel magazines and motorsports writer for the Schenectady, NY Daily Gazette.
Ron was featured in The Villages Daily Sun because his current neighbors and friends know him from the golf courses and the nightly town square entertainment. Motorsports journalism is his "backstory."
