The Villages Motor Racing Fan Club – Official Archives
Our club formed in the fall of
2006, and we all quickly realized that our like-mindedness about motorsports
would produce many great and exciting activities, trips, and events. After
several months of organizational activities, we conducted our first major
“field event”—sponsoring Dick Anderson’s famous no. 92 car, with Jeff Choquette at the wheel, in a Sunoco Sunbelt Series race at
New Smyrna Speedway in April of 2007. By that time, we had settled on a logo
and a standard piece of club apparel—the famous “yellow shirts” that have
become our group identity. It was an awesome experience, made especially so by
our group’s trip to the winners circle to celebrate
with Dick and Jeff. A recap of this event—considered by many of to be a
defining moment for our club—is included here in our archives, along with a
collection of similar major milestone events we’ve recorded along the way. This
is a work-in-progress…we’ll be continually adding documents as our club
grows…check back often.
We invite you to browse the
documents attached…they will give you a better feel for the ground we’ve
covered. For those of you who were participants in these events, they will jog
your memories! Click of the various titles to view these historical accounts.
Enjoy!
